Feedback as a Tool

Viewers and content creators can effectively use YouTube features that allow users to give feedback. These features include likes, dislikes, views, comments and subscriptions. For example, viewers in search of a “How To” or “D.I.Y.” video will most likely choose to watch the video that has acquired the most likes and views. Additionally, YouTubers and corporations cultivating their own channels can use these preference metrics to gauge the popularity of their posted videos. Comments give viewers the opportunity to verbally express their responses. This feature quite literally fosters a dialogue between viewers who comment and account operators, as they have the option of replying.

Digital audiences give the most feedback while being monitored by the minute. YouTube began surveying by the minute with the use of “dwell time”. Dwell time monitors the exact time viewers spend watching a video, opposed to only monitoring how many times the video has been clicked on. YouTube stars like Tyler Oakley and Colleen Ballinger know a thing or two about viewer feedback and making videos go viral. Comedy and advocacy have enabled these YouTubers to attract millions of followers and transform their personalities into brands. Audiences thoroughly enjoy watching their weekly videos, which is why they are often asked to endorse products or ideologies in sponsored posts. A brand endorsement from a renowned personality makes a greater impact on consumer recall.

Feedback is absolutely essential when it comes to being successful on YouTube. Whether you are searching for a video or cultivating your own channel, use these features to your advantage!
